The church, an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture, was built approximately in 1340 following the last will of Giorgio de’ Zoppi. The original Romanesque structures and a wonderful cycle of ancient frescoes have been perfectly preserved. After the suppression of the convent, during the French domination (1797), the church was abandoned and was later used as a stable and warehouse until the entire property reverted to the nuns “Suore Poverelle del Beato Luigi Palazzolo”, who restored the building to its former glory, along with the lovely little cloister. The church is by far the most beautiful and significant gem of the village.
