Ranica enjoys its contemporary time by means of the new culture centre “Roberto Gritti”, designed by DAP Studio and by Paola Diaconia, opened in 2010 and also awarded as the best public work in the Province of Bergamo between 2000 and 2010 during the OAB architecture competition 2010. Dedicated to Roberto Gritti, a renowned artist from Ranica and one of the fathers of Bergamo folk music, this building houses a two-levels library, a music hall, a nursery, a space dedicated to young people and some culture, dance and folklore associations.
The building is located in the old town and features a very essential and sharp look. Its colour shades and its style is very different from the surrounding buildings. The simplicity of the outside sharply contrasts with the complexity of its interiors. In fact, the transition spaces between a room and another are not just structural, but they also become places where anyone can enjoy.
An information and training site, a new square to get together, to communicate and to strengthen a sense of belonging for the local people.
